Over the last 10 years, auto manufactures have experienced great success with the newer security features provided by transponder technology. Charlotte Locksmith is on the forefront of this new technology.
Sealed in the head of each key is a transponder chip containing one of a trillion possible electronic codes. Most of the time you can not see the chip because it is covered with the rubber head of the key. When the key is placed into the ignition cylinder of a vehicle, the transponder chip is automatically activated by radio frequency. The transponder chip then sends a signal, using the same radio frequency, to the antenna that is contained within the ignition cylinder. The antenna relays the signal to the vehicle’s control module, and if the signal is recognized, the vehicle is allowed to start.
The use of an incorrect key or signal would temporarily immobilize the vehicle’s engine.
Transponder keys successfully protect cars from theft in this way. This is why transponder keys are so popular in modern cars and are helping decrease car theft worldwide.
Charlotte Locksmith has the ability and tools to make 90 percent of transponder keys on the market today.
Always make sure you call your local locksmith to get an extra key before you loose it. Transponder keys can cost upwards of hundreds of dollars, and even more on some of the higher end automobiles.
We at A-Access Lock & key have invested thousands of dollars and endless hours of training to be prepared to handle transponder work. You need special programmers to hook up to your vehicle. You need Key machines to cut the keys. Also we have to invest in a lot of keys to have in stock .
Over all transponders are expensive and are harder to duplicate than traditional keys. With the transponder keys you do not have to worry about someone stealing your car without a key. I would say about 85% of the automobiles today have transponder keys. Within the next 5-10 years I would say that all cars will have transponders.
